Progress Monitoring

The progress of our students is monitored utilizing various forms of assessments. Formative assessments include quizzes, classwork assignments, homework assignments, and teacher observations. Summative assessments include unit tests and projects. In addition to these assessments, three times a year progress is monitored utilizing varies benchmark assessments and the MAP test. These programs specifically pinpoint areas of strengths and weakness in reading and mathematics.

Annually, our students in grades 2-8 complete the TerraNova3 standardized assessment. Terra Nova is a norm-reference nationally standardized achievement test. The results of this assessment also enables us to determine how well our students are performing and in what academic areas they may need additional instruction.

By monitoring the progress of students, teachers are able to identify areas that require more intensive or alternate forms of instruction.
